Clinical Expertise

I’ve worked with clients from diverse backgrounds on issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, people-pleasing, perfectionism, acculturation challenges, divorce, co-parenting, and relationship enrichment. I fundamentally believe that every client has what it takes to live a beautiful, healthy, fulfilling life—so my job is to help you work through the things holding you back from your true strength and power.

To better assist my clients I have undergone further training in specific therapy models such as Emotionally Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems. I frequently employ the following models—but I always tailor my approach to fit your specific challenges, needs, and values.

  • Collaborative Therapy
  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems)
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
  • Experiential Therapy

My goal is to help you better understand the complex causes of your struggles and then help you live a more satisfying, empowered, and symptom-free life the way you want to live it.

MY BACKGROUND

My journey to becoming a couples and family therapist has been perhaps a bit atypical. I received my bachelor’s degree in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies from The College of William & Mary, where I was heavily involved in cultural theory and research. Upon graduating from W&M, I worked in retail management for several years before beginning my clinical studies in Virginia Tech’s Marriage and Family Therapy program. I can thank both of these experiences for enriching my psychotherapeutic practice in ways I never could have imagined at the time.

I earned my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech and have worked in both agency and private practice settings at The Center for Family Services (Falls Church, VA) and Group Therapy Associates (Haymarket, VA).

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and friends who are the center of my world. I love sewing, yoga, pilates, meditation, cuddling the family dogs, and playing Pokémon with my step-children.

ABOUT ME

I love helping my clients become more free, more present, and more in charge of their lives. It is music to my ears when a client says that they feel better than they ever thought was possible, and it is a joy to watch them achieve goals they never dreamed were in reach.

What does a session with me look like? I believe in working with my clients as a team, and my style is collaborative, transparent, warm, and down-to-earth—as well as pragmatic. We will:

  1. Explore what is happening in your life at all levels—cognitive, emotional, physiological, behavioral, relational, and systemic;
  2. Incorporate real-time, research-based techniques such as meditation, guided visualization, and other regulation and rewiring tools;
  3. Regularly check in about what you feel is and isn’t working in therapy to keep you at the forefront of your treatment.

Whether you’re interested in what our work will look like or simply want to know you’re in good hands, I hope that this helps demystify the therapeutic process and gives you an idea of what to expect when you come in.
