ABOUT ME

Therapy is a unique experience for each client, and knowing this, I enjoy tailoring my treatment to meet each client’s specific goals. For all clients, I believe in attending to the mind-body connection and helping you build upon your own mind-body awareness to facilitate and support change. My approach is characterized by peace and tranquility, and I strive to partner with you in finding new meaning and insight while moving toward your treatment goals.

I am a graduate of the Clinical Social Work program at Virginia Commonwealth University and hold a Virginia Social Work license. My Latin heritage and ties to the Latino culture are important parts of my identity, and I have enjoyed spending significant time abroad in Latin America. These experiences help me connect with and understand the experiences of the immigrant population here in Northern Virginia, and I enjoy working with members of this community on issues related to acculturation and grief/loss.

My clinical training and experience have prepared me to work with individuals, couples, and families facing a wide range of issues. I am particularly passionate about working with children coping with trauma, grief/loss, and other challenges related to child abuse and/or neglect. I enjoy using Play Therapy to connect with young clients in creative and accessible ways. With adult clients, I have worked with those experiencing depression and anxiety. For new mothers, I offer support related to breastfeeding, nutrition, wellness, and self-care, and generally enjoy working with women experiencing postpartum-related issues.

Couples therapy is a powerful way to approach difficult discussions, create deeper meaning, and strengthen connection between partners. My multifaceted approach to couples therapy helps alleviate symptoms of tension and conflict while working to live a more fulfilling life together. My mindfulness meditation and imagery techniques will help you build upon individual and relationship strengths you may not even be aware of.

MY BACKGROUND

I am passionate about continuing to learn and become the best and most effective therapist I can be. My professional background includes positions in psychiatric residential services, the foster and adoption system, family and child preservation services, and in the public school system. I enjoy bringing this depth of experience to my work with children, individuals, couples, and families.
