My Background
Since 2003, I have worked in crisis programs supporting survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and intimate partner violence through individual counseling, support groups, and court accompaniment. My clinical experience has included work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and I have worked with men, women, adolescents, and parents. I have facilitated a girls empowerment group with adolescents staying at a juvenile detention center and a support group for adolescent girls who had experienced sexual abuse, and have spent many years facilitating adult survivor groups. I currently work in a non-profit facilitating support groups for survivors of intimate partner violence and parenting classes for both community and court referred clients.
My clinical training has equipped me to connect with and support those who are experiencing the effects of trauma, grief, loss, and relationship transitions. In addition, I enjoy working with parents who are navigating the challenges of raising children, especially those who have not had the benefit of positive parenting role models.
About Me
My strength as a therapist is in connecting with clients and helping them access and use their own strengths and resources. They find a space that is compassionate, warm, uplifting, and supportive where they can gain self-understanding and empathy for themselves and those around them. I enjoy working with clients of all different faith and spirituality backgrounds as they seek to understand how their beliefs fit into their life experiences. If you are looking specifically for a counselor who understands the Christian faith, please indicate that.
When not working, I enjoy time with my two kids and my husband, volunteering at my church with the children’s ministry, exercising, getting together with friends, trying out new recipes, and researching natural health.
