It’s the Little Things

It’s the Little Things

The summer is settling in, the weather is gorgeous, and the pace of life is a little bit slower. Despite this, I’ve found myself stressing over little things and getting wrapped up in the trivial details of life. Then I remembered how important it is to take time to slow down and remember to appreciate the little things. It’s in these moments that we can truly connect with ourselves and others, though it’s quite easy to take this for granted.

As an individual, it’s important to take time to notice beauty in the little things. For me, this means feeling a cool breeze or appreciating the flowers on my walk home. Make time to express gratitude and remember what you are thankful for. Many find it helpful to make a habit of writing these things down before going to bed or upon waking up in the morning. Making the effort to notice the good things helps us to not be clouded by the negative.

If you’re part of a couple, take time to verbalize appreciations for the small things your partner does. A simple, genuine thank you for doing the dishes or a compliment can make a big difference. Building a habit of appreciating the little things can strengthen your relationship and help to build positivity.

When you feel wrapped up in negativity, don’t forget to turn inward and turn to your loved ones. Try to focus on the positives, rather than dwell on the negatives. And don’t forget to take time to appreciate the little things. You may be surprised at how big an impact such little things can have.
